The Thirupanandal police filed a case against Tamil film director Pa Ranjith on Tuesday. PA Ranjith is the director of Kaala and Kabali which featured Superstar Rajinikanth in lead role and Tamil superheat film, 'Madras.'
A case was filed against Tamil director Pa Ranjith for allegedly "inciting caste enmity" following his comments against Chola dynasty King Raja Raja Chola during a public event.
The Kaala director, who is also the founder of Nilam Panpattu Maiyam, Ranjith accused the ruler of taking over lands owned by Dalits and handing it over to temples at a public meeting organized by the Blue Panthers Party at Thirupananthal on 5 June.
The meeting was held to commemorate the death anniversary of Umar Farooq, who founded the Neela Puligal Iyakkam, which works for Dalits. Hindu Makkal Katchi, a Hindu nationalist party, filed a complaint against Ranjith for his comments.
