Leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) launched a 36-hour hunger strike in Hyderabad on Saturday to protest the 'undemocractic' merger of 12 of their MLAs with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the state.
However, even during a meeting to unite all leaders, differences within the Congress in Telangana once again came to the fore when senior party leader V. Hanumantha Rao claimed that some leaders had sold party tickets in the recent Assembly election. He alleged those who managed to buy the tickets defected to the ruling TRS.
"If you give tickets to those who have money this is what will happen," said Rao while speaking at the hunger strike launched by Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
