Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) to strive to get ₹4,810 crore spent by the State government on Polavaram project fully reimbursed by the Centre and to accord due priority to its completion.
He also ordered that the department should go for reverse tendering in irrigation projects wherever the expenditure breached the limits. Addressing a review meeting on the irrigation projects at his residence on Monday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy called for a report on the expenditure incurred prior to 2014 and the results achieved and said that officials and engineers who save up to 20% of the project costs now would be felicitated.
