Patna, May 14 (IANS) Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislator Amarnath Gami on Tuesday said that the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls will be contested in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
If the Assembly polls were not fought in Modi's name, there is no chance of victory, Gami told the media here, ahead of the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
"The entire Lok Sabha campaign was Modi-centric and his name has replaced Nitish's name in Bihar. Even the Chief Minister was parroting Modi's name and his achievements at election meetings," he said.
Nitish Kumar has failed to keep his government's achievements before the people, he said. "NDA is getting the support and votes in the name of Modi only."
Gami said that after the election result on May 23, there will be a stampede-like situation among legislators of non-BJP parties. He said legislators from other parties see their future in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and more than a dozen MLAs want to joint it.
Gami on April 30 resigned from the membership of the legislative Assembly for being sidelined during campaigning in Darbhanga and Samastipur constituencies by the JD-U.
The two-term legislator from Hayaghat Assembly constituency said he has sent his resignation to JD-U President Nitish Kumar but his resignation has not been accepted so far.
