Youth, women created pro-BJP ‘wave’ in polls: Modi

Ratlam, May 13 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said youth and women turned out to vote in full force in this election and that created a "wave" from every home in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"In this election, first-time voters and women came out in force to vote, which led to a wave from every home," he said addressing a rally at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh.

Modi said, "The Congress had claimed there was no wave in this election. But after the first few phases they have understood the reality and are now trying to create stories about the results sitting in Delhi."

Stating that the Congress was shying away from saying "Bharat Mata ki Jai", Modi said but it was happy to abuse him.

"The country saw Bofors scam, submarine scam, helicopter scam and 2G scam, but on being asked the Congress can only say 'Hua toh hua' (it just happened)," Modi said, sarcastically referring to Congress leader Sam Pitroda's recent comment on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Accusing the Congress of adopting wrong policies on security, he compared that with his government's tough stance on Pakistan, saying "under the Congress rule, our soldiers did not even get bulletproof jackets. They sacrificed their lives, but the Congress just says 'Hua toh hua'."
