Los Angeles, May 10 (IANS) Actor Scott Wolf has replaced actor Freddie Prinze Jr. in the reboot of "Nancy Drew".
The casting brings Wolf back to the former WB Network after he starred in seasons three and four of "Everwood".
Sources say producers wanted to go on a different direction and the split was amicable, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
Re-castings are increasingly common this time of year as networks review audience testing and refine casts based on those results and newly available talent whose pilots did not go to series.
Wolf will take over the role of Carson Drew, the father of the teen sleuth played by Kennedy McMann. The character is described as an attorney who has become estranged from his daughter after the death of his wife.
His relationship with Nancy is thrown into disarray when the sleuth's murder investigation reveals secrets from his past.
"Nancy Drew" is set in the summer after her high school graduation when the 18-year-old thought she'd be leaving her hometown for college. Instead, when a family tragedy hits, she finds herself staying at home and working the case.
