The US Coast Guard Cutter THETIS conducts maritime security drills in Sao Tome and Principe

The US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) THETIS conducted a week-long maritime security engagement in Sao Tome and Principe (STP) from March 31 to April 6.

During the week, the USCG provided seminars to the STP Coast Guard on boat maintenance, boarding procedures and concluded the security cooperation engagement with a Water Security Exercise (WASEX), which simulated a piracy event in the Gulf of Guinea.

The crew of the USCGC THETIS worked alongside our partners from the Portuguese Navy and the Brazilian Marines to reinforce maritime security training efforts for the STP Coast Guard.

The US Embassy and US Coast Guard hosted a luncheon at the STP Coast Guard Headquarters for all participating members. The Minister of Defense and Defense Forces Chief of Staff attended this luncheon and thanked all participating members.
