The failure of the Election Commission in conducting the phase - 1 poll faced a lot of criticism. Especially in Andhra Pradesh, about 400 EVMs malfunctioned and EC failed miserably to terminate the clashes.

Already, Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati were banned by Election from campaigning 72 hours and 48 hours respectively over Model Code of Conduct violations. It was happened due to their objectionable statements in their speeches.

In recent, EC banned four leaders so far. The Election Commission of India on Monday banned Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan from campaigning for 72 hours over his 'khaki underwear' remark on BJP's Jaya Prada.

Now, Ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Thursday, the Election Commission on Tuesday carried out a surprise check on former Karnataka CM and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa. A flying squad checked his luggage at a helipad in Shivamogga district.

Let’s see whether EC would be successful at the day of polling Unlike they are at Andhra Pradesh earlier. Voting will be held in Karnataka in two phases - April 18 and April 23.
