Few national parties have declared their bank account status in the wake of Lok Sabha elections to the Chief Election Commission. Some official documents were submitted by various parties and Mayawati led Bahujan Samajwadi Party has a hefty bank balance of Rs 669 Cr in eight accounts at various public sector banks in New Delhi.

Interestingly, the BSP had no deposits at the time of 2014 election and they only reported 94.54 lakh cash in hand. Going by reports submitted by the rest of the parties, BSP is cash-rich and also the wealthiest party in India. At the same time, UP's Samajwadi Party took the second position by disclosing a bank balance of Rs 471 Crores.

Following BSP and SP, Congress showed it has a bank deposit of 196 Cr and with 107 Cr, Andhra Pradesh's TDP takes the fourth position. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party submitted a bank balance of Rs 82 Cr in a report to EC, while CPM and AAP reported a bank deposit of Rs 3 Crores each. Even though BJP has claimed in 2017-18 that it had 1027 Crore, they are now down to the fifth spot because of an expenditure Rs 758 Crores after 2018 assembly polls.
