Today, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency concluded a three-day U.S.-Africa Airport Issues Conference, organized by the American Association of Airport Executives and Airports Company South Africa, and supported by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

The conference convened U.S. industry representatives and high-level aviation officials from several African countries to discuss challenges and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa’s aviation sector, including safety and security challenges, airport infrastructure public-private partnerships, green initiatives and environmental sustainability, and domestic air service development/intra-Africa airline connectivity.

In addition to participating in the conference, USTDA supported a delegation of aviation officials from key African markets, including Angola, Botswana, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zambia.

The conference resulted from the successful 2015 U.S.-South African Aviation Leadership Forum in Cape Town, South Africa, which USTDA supported through the U.S.-South Africa Aviation Training Program.
