The experiences and influences of avant-garde theatre have been combined with African traditional theatre in a theatrical piece dedicated to the story of Antigone and staged at the Italian embassy in Dakar in collaboration with the new Italian Cultural Institute. "Antigone An African story", by Jean Anouilh, directed and set design by Massimo Luconi, has revived one of the myths that has been part of our civilization for more than two millennia thanks to the talent of young Senegalese actors who attended a training course run by Lucconi in Saint Louis from 2011 to 2013.

The calendar of events proposed by the Embassy in the framework of the dialogue between Italian and Senegalese culture, includes the third edition of the Italian Design Day, scheduled for April18. This year the Italian Design Day bears the title "Italian lighting meets African art". Among the initiatives of "Italy, Culture, Africa", the garden of the Leopold Se'dar Senghor house / museum will host works of art of African tradition, kindly offered by the largest art gallery of Dakar, Antenna, with lighting by the Italian company iGuzzini, specialized in museum and outdoor lighting. The set-up will be enriched by some iGuzzini interior lamps that will light up sofas and tables offered by the Italian design firm, Moroso, a world leader in the field of upholstered furniture.

The Italian Design Day will avail itself of "an ambassador of design", architect Italo Rota, winner, among other things, of the project for the Italian pavilion for Expo Dubai 2020. Rota will hold a conference entitled "Exhibition space as an extension of our spirit" at IFAN (Institut Fondamental d'Afrique noir) in Dakar
