'Maharshi' did not break any records in OS rights pricing as many expected. The distributors went conservative as the market did not improve as much as people expected. Bharat Ane Nenu could collect 3.5 Million USD, but it did not make a profit for the distributors.
The same distributors, Great India Films, came forward to buy the rights of Maharshi but for Rs. 11.5 crores which are also huge for any film. But the producers wanted an amount of Rs. 16 crores and for such a deal, they even pushed the movie by two weeks giving Avengers End Game ample time to settle down.
Had they gone with an early plan of 25th April release? They would have ended up being gobbled up by Avengers movie. Distributors in the USA did agree to share a bigger profit margin if the movie crosses 16 crores threshold at the box office, it seems
