India’s General Elections are on from April 11 through May 19 over seven phases, with counting slated for May 23. Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu has mounted an aggressive campaign against Modi, as also Jaganmohan Reddy, questioning their links, and says that 5 years of Modi rule have been a disaster for the country.
Naidu squeezed in time, first aboard an aircraft and then in his SUV, to talk about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule, the unity of non-BJP parties, the impact of the Balakot air strike on the election and the TDP’s prospects in his State.
Naidu who put behind decades of rivalry to open a dialogue with the Congress last year had ruled out an alliance as it causes deep antipathy towards TDP in Andhra Pradesh following the bifurcation of Telangana. The Congress had failed to win a single Lok Sabha or assembly seat in the state in the 2014 elections. The Telugu Desam Party had won 102 of the 175 assembly seats and 15 of the Lok Sabha seats. Will Naidu give the same result in 2019? Let's wait and watch.
