Bengaluru, March 25 (IANS) Karnataka's ruling coalition partner Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and his grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy on Monday filed their nominations from Tumkur and Mandya Lok Sabha constituencies respectively.
Gowda filed his nomination at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tumkur as the joint candidate of the JD-S-Congress alliance.
The 85-year-old former Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader G. Parameshwara.
Gowda's grandson and son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Nikhil, filed his nomination for the ensuing general elections at the Mandya Deputy Commissioner's office.
Kannada actor Nikhil, 29, was accompanied by Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar, his mother and legislator from Ramanagara Assembly seat Anitha Kumaraswamy and uncle and the state's Public Works Department Minister H.D. Revanna (elder son of Gowda).
Gowda's other grandson Prajwal Revanna (son of Revanna) had filed his nomination from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat last week.
As part of the seat-sharing arrangement between the two ruling allies, the Congress will contest in 21 Lok Sabha seats and the JD-S in seven seats instead of the eight earlier, after it gave the Bangalore North seat to the Congress.
Polling will be held in two phases in the southern state, on 14 seats from the southern and central regions on April 18 and the remaining 14 in the coastal and northern regions on April 23. Vote count is on May 23.
