China took the lead 1-0 after He Jiting and Du Yue overcame Japanese pair Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino 21-17, 21-17 in the mixed doubles, reports Xinhua news agency.
Japan then tied the game 1-1 as Kanta Tsuneyama easily went past Chinese player Lu Guangzu 21-18, 21-7 in the men's singles.
Yugo Kobayashi and Takuro Hoki helped Japan gain the 2-1 lead by beating Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong 16-21, 21-18, 21-13 in the men's doubles.
China equalised the game 2-2 after Han Yue won the women's singels by defeating Sayaka Takahashi 17-21, 21-19, 21-17.
In the women's doubles, Li Yinhui and Du Fu sealed the win for China by beating Ayako Sakuramoto and Yukiko Takahata 21-16, 21-19.
