Panaji, March 19 (IANS) The Congress in Goa has accused Governor Mridula Sinha of "allowing BJP to carry on horse trading" and ignoring repeated requests from the Congress party to stake claim to form a government in Goa, despite being the single largest legislative party.
In statement issued here on late Monday night, Goa Congress chief spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar also called Sinha an agent of the BJP and said that she had allowed a vacuum in government for more than 24 hours, following the death of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday.
"We strongly condemn the undemocratic action of Governor Sinha for not allowing our single largest party to form the government and allowing BJP to carry on horse trading, despite BJP not having sufficient numbers to form the government," Kawthankar said.
"The Governor is acting as an agent of BJP and this will be remembered as the darkest day in Indian democracy where there is vacuum in government for more than 24 hours of declaration of death of Chief Minister of the state," he also said.
The statement also said, that the Congress had approached the Raj Bhavan on five occasions since Sunday, but there was response at all from Sinha.
