Amaravati, March 17 (IANS) Ending all speculations, former CBI Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana, who quit the police job last year to enter public life, finally joined actor Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena on Sunday to make his political debut.
The former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer formally joined Jana Sena with Kalyan welcoming him into the paty.
Lakshminarayana said he was ready to contest the elections from any constituency. Jana Sena is likely to announce his candidature either for Lok Sabha or Assembly elections later in the day.
Earlier, there were speculations that Lakshminarayana may join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
As Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Lakshminarayana headed investigations into several high-profile cases, including disproportionate assets case involving YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and Satyam Computer scam.
He also inquired into the killing of top Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad and journalist Hemachander Pande during alleged gun battle with police.
An officer of the 1990 IPS batch, he was repatriated to his cadre state of Maharashtra after seven-year deputation to the CBI. He was appointed Additional Director General of Maharashtra.
Last year, Lakshminarayana announced retirement saying he would like to enter politics to perform his society responsibilities.
