Veteran BJP leader Devi Singh Bhati quits party

Jaipur, March 15 (IANS) Senior BJP leader Devi Singh Bhati on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party, annoyed over the ticket for the Lok Sabha elections being given to Bikaner MP Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Bhati, a seven-time BJP MLA from Kolayat Bikaner in Rajasthan, said he had sent his resignation to the party high command.

"I am feeling sad after resigning from the party but I am really hurt about reports that MP and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal is again being given a ticket from Bikaner for the Lok Sabha elections," Bhati said.

"Meghwal has been involved in anti-party activities and I have informed the party about it. The party leaders said they would pursue the matter but nothing has been done. I feel helpless, I preferred to resign, he added.

Bhati has been an MLA from 1980 to 2013 and has worked on many significant portfolios.
