Jaipur, March 12 (IANS) A espionage case has been registered against Nawab Khan, a driver, detained on Sunday near the International Border in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, a police official said on Tuesday.
The case was filed on the orders of Additional Director General of Police Umesh Mishra.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a special team detained Khan, he said and added during the initial interrogation, Khan admitted of links with the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. He has been shifted to Jaipur for further interrogation.
He was under surveillance of the intelligence force, said police officials.
Khan admitted that he was acting on directions of a Pakistani agency and sending crucial information in a code language via WhatsApp and video call.
In return of the vital information about Indian security forces, he was getting huge money, the police said.
Khan met an ISI officer in a hotel during his 22-day religious tour to Pakistan last year. They exchanged numbers and Khan was assured of huge amount in lieu of crucial information.
Khan would collect information while taking tourists to Barmer and Jaisalmer near border and later transfer the information via WhatsApp to Pakistan-based ISI officers.
