Washington, March 9 (IANS) White House Communications Director Bill Shine has resigned and will serve as senior adviser on US President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign, the White House said on Friday.
Shine offered his resignation on Thursday, according to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, reports Xinhua news agency.
"Bill continues to support President Trump and his agenda and will serve as Senior Advisor to the 2020 re-election campaign," Sanders told reporters.
"To be a small part of all this president has done for the American people has truly been an honour. I'm looking forward to working on President Trump's re-election campaign and spending more time with my family," Shine said in a statement.
In a statement, Trump said, "Bill Shine has done an outstanding job working for me and the Administration. We will miss him in the White House, but look forward to working together on the 2020 Presidential Campaign, where he will be totally involved."
Shine previously worked for 20 years under late Fox News CEO and co-founder Roger Ailes. Before officially appointed as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for communications in July, 2018, he served as co-president of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, the White House website shows.
