Gurugram, March 7 (IANS) A 10-year-old fully grown male leopard which entered a house in Ram Nagar Gurdhana village here on Thursday morning was rescued by the Haryana Wildlife Department after four hours.
Shyam Sundar Kaushik, the Divisional Forest Officer of Gurugram Range, said the wild cat strayed from the nearby Aravalli mountain range and entered the house of Ramesh Singh, the ex-Sarpanch of the village, around 8 a.m.
"The leopard generally roams for food and water at night. It entered the house at sunrise," Kaushik said.
The leopard was initially spotted by a neighbour who alerted Singh on the phone.
"Thankfully, when the leopard entered the toilet, Ramesh Singh, without creating much noise, locked the door from outside and informed the police and the Wildlife Department," Kaushik said.
The leopard was not injured in the rescue operation. "It is under observation," he added.
