Finance Minister has announced that a notification was passed in order to release a new coin for Rs. 20 which will look similar to Rs.10 coin. But this new coin won’t have the edges like a 10rupee coin which have 10 leaves figures. The color will be two-toned and will be shaped like a 27 mm in diameter.
The outer ring will be 65% copper, 15% zinc and 20% nickel. The inner ring will be 75% copper, 20% zinc and 5% nickel. Like the other coins, the more detailed information on both sides of the coins will be contained and yet to be disclosed.
Soon or later new coins of 1Re, 2Rs, 5Rs, and 10Rs will be released. Ever since Reserve Bank of India released the first 10 rupees coin there were confusions since there have been many variations in it and the RBI clarified that all 14 kinds of coins are legal and not to get confused.
