Dear Media Colleagues,
In celebration of this year’s International Women’ Day, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) will organize a high-level panel discussion in collaboration with Catholic University of South Sudan.
Thursday, 7 March at 9 a.m.
Catholic University of South Sudan
The theme of the panel discussion:
“Catalyst for Change: The Role of Women in South Sudan’s Peace Process.”
With a new roadmap for peace in South Sudan put in place, it is extremely important that women of the country get involved in the peace process: for example, leadership roles in the government, cessation of hostilities in a gender-sensitive way and how to put an end to sexual violence. There are key issues that will need women’s involvement.
This coming Thursday, on 7 March at 9 a.m., the following prominent panellists will exchange their views on women’s role and South Sudan’s peace process.
The discussion will be moderated by Justice Ajonye Perpetua. And the guest of honor is expected to be H.E. Mary Ayen Mayardit, the First Lady of South Sudan.
