With the increase of demands to forfeit the match with Pakistan in upcoming ICC World Cup, it was known that BCCI wrote the letter to ICC to "isolate" the nations which support terrorism without mentioning the name of Pakistan. Regarding this issue, ICC gave a clarification which didn’t please BCCI.
ICC chairman, Shashank Manohar told that it was the issue beyond their policies and such decisions will be taken by the respective governments but not the ICC. Since Pakistan was a permanent member of the ICC, it would not be possible to “isolate” it unless it is supported by all Test-playing countries.
This former BCCI president further added that BCCI knew this but somehow they wrote a letter with the pressure in the country after Pulwama attack. So, now it’s all up to India whether to play with Pakistan or forfeit the match which results in them losing two points and to face the further penalties imposed by ICC.
