Barcelona, Feb 25 (IANS) The Finnish company HMD Global, which makes Nokia smartphones, unveiled the "Nokia 9 PureView" -- the world's first smartphone with a five-camera array with ZEISS Optics to put next generation computational imaging technology into the hands of photography and technology enthusiasts.
The device was unveiled on Sunday at the ongoing 2019 MWC Barcelona.
With wireless charging and under display fingerprint sensor, "Nokia 9 PureView" produces images in high dynamic range (HDR) where five cameras simultaneously capture the image and fuse it together into one 12 megapixel (MP) photo, the company said in a statement.
The smartphone also features the ability to capture images in uncompressed Raw DNG (digital negative) format and edit them directly on the phone using Adobe Lightroom.
The phone is already shipping at a global average retail price of $699 (approximately Rs 49,640).
Also on Sunday, the company unveiled four other Android smartphones -- "Nokia 4.2" and "Nokia 3.2" with a dedicated Google Assistant button, "Nokia 1 Plus" that runs on Android 9 Pie (Go edition) and the company's most affordable internet-enabled "Nokia 201" feature-phone.
"With 'Nokia 9 PureView' and others, we are bringing stunning, dedicated Google Assistant button and great imaging and display technology, at the most accessible price points yet," said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global.
With a pure Android installation, the smartphones do not come with any major or unnecessary user interface (UI) changes or hidden processes that would eat up battery life or slow them down, the company claimed.
"Today, with these new phones, we are taking a leap forward by delivering the very latest innovations from Google across our entire portfolio," said Florian Seiche, Chief Executive Officer, HMD Global.
Apart from the smartphones, Nokia also refreshed its accessories portfolio with 'Nokia Wireless Charger" and "Nokia Portable Wireless Charger" -- both of which support the universal Qi charging standard and would work with compatible wireless charging devices.
"Nokia 4.2", "Nokia 3.2", "Nokia 1 Plus", and "Nokia 210" would start being made available between March and April at the starting price of $169, $139, $99 and $35 respectively, the company added.
