Gurugram, Feb 12 (IANS) The crime branch of Gurugram police on Tuesday managed to overpower three criminals after a brief encounter in Farukh Nagar area of the city, police said.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Singh, Salim and Denis, all natives of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. They are involved in four cases of attempt to murder and loot in Gurugram.
The police also recovered a countrymade pistol, countrymade Katta, 6 live cartridges and a motorbike from them.
"We received inputs about three persons suspiciously roaming in Mubarikpur Chowk area. Crime branch officials went there in civilian dress. After the accused were identified by informers, crime branch officials cornered them at a place," said Subhash Bokan, PRO of Gurugram police.
"As Mubarikpur Chowk is a busy area in Farukh Nagar, the accused tried to create panic by firing bullets at police personnel. The alert personnel retaliated and foiled their escape bid," Bokan said.
