New Delhi, Feb 12 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha saw repeated disruptions on Tuesday and was adjourned for the day amid sloganeering by the opposition MPs.
As the House was reconvened at 2 p.m., opposition MPs from the Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party came near the Chair's podium and started shouting slogans.
Two government bills were introduced by the Ministers amid the din.
Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh adjourned the House for half an hour.
As soon as the House met again, the opposition MPs stationed themselves near the podium and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
The Chair then adjourned the House for the day.
Earlier, the Upper House was adjourned during Zero Hour.
The Rajya Sabha was on Tuesday scheduled to discuss the motion of thanks on the President's address.
The government may extend the Upper House sitting by a day or two to complete the legislative business which includes a discussion on the Budget and a few other bills.
