As part of the efforts of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) to support the consolidation of democracy and good governance in Nigeria, and in line with the commitment of the United Nations Secretary-General for conflict prevention, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNOWAS, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, begins today his mission to Nigeria ahead of the presidential elections, scheduled on 16 February.
During his mission, Ibn Chambas will visit various states in Nigeria and meet with all stakeholders, local and national, to renew United Nations support for inclusive, peaceful and credible elections.
