Ranchi, Jan 26 (IANS) Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu on Saturday said that the Maoists were one of the biggest challenges to the state's development.
Marking the 70th Republic Day, Murmu hoisted the tricolour at the Morabadi ground here in the midst of a slight drizzle.
"The Maoists are one of the biggest challenges for the development of the state and also of the country," the Governor said.
She lauded the state's security measures, saying: "The Jharkhand government is constructing roads in Maoist hit areas. Maoist activities have reduced from 21 to 19 districts."
Chief Minister Raghubar Das hoisted the tricolour in Dumka.
Speaking on the occasion, he said: "The state government is working for the all round development of the people of Jharkhand. Krishi Aashirwad Yojana has been implemented which would benefit 22.76 lakh small and medium size farmers. This scheme is aimed to increase the income of the farmers."
Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon hoisted the flag here.
