New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS) A week-long theatre festival starting on Saturday is all set to treat the capital's theatre enthusiasts with a vibrant palette of productions, including those by industry bigwigs Girish Karnad, K. Madavane, Manav Kaul and Khwaja Ahmad Abbas.
Slated to take place at cultural hub Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts from December 22-28, the annual Panna Bharat Ram Theatre Festival brings acclaimed productions by noted playwrights and directors.
The theatre fest will feature multiple awards-winning actor-playwright Girish Karnad's "Tughlaq" (directed by prominent theatrist K. Madavane) and "Agni aur Barkha" (directed by former National School of Drama professor K.S. Rajendran), a statement from the organisers said.
Also scheduled to take place are American playwright Joseph Kesselring's "Arsenic and Old Lace", directed by Nayana Sagar; filmmaker-director Manav Kaul's "Prem Kabootar", adapted and directed by Sameep Singh; and "Dadu", directed by Niloy Roy.
Noted theatrist and writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas's 120-minute "Kala Suraj Safed Sayee", directed by Lokesh Jain, will also greet theatre lovers, and so will Kaushik Bose and Durba Ghose's "Poem of an Ending", based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore.
The festival will stage one production each evening, tickets for which can be bought online at www.bookmyshow.com or at the venue, if not sold out. The ticket prices range from Rs 200, 300 and 400, the organisers said.
