New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS) Domestic carrier IndiGo and Istanbul-based Turkish Airlines have signed a codeshare and mutual cooperation agreement.
According to a joint statement issues on Friday, the agreement will come into effect after necessary Board and regulatory approvals.
A codeshare agreement allows two airlines to sell seats on each others' flights in order to provide passengers with a wider choice of destinations.
"This is the first codeshare agreement for IndiGo as part of its international expansion strategy," the airline said in the statement.
"Through this cooperation, Turkish Airlines will be offering new destinations in India as Marketing Carrier on IndiGo-operated flights, while IndiGo customers will be able to reach many European destinations through Turkish Airlines' extensive network."
