New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday adjourned for the day within minutes it meeting amid pandemonium.
Members from different parties trooped near the Chair's podium holding placards and raising slogans.
While the Tamil Nadu-based AIADMK and DMK members protested against a proposed dam on the Cauveri river in Karnataka, the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party members demanded special status for Andhra Pradesh.
The Congress members continued with their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Rafale deal.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party members in turn, cited the Supreme Court ruling on Rafale, and demanded an apology from Congress President Rahul Gandhi for levelling allegations against the government.
Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu urged the agitating members to discuss the issues instead of creating a commotion.
However, as no one relented, Naidu adjourned the House for the day amid the din.
