Mumbai, Dec 18 (IANS) Urvi Patil, a 10-year-old mountaineer from Goa, is making her Bollywood debut with National Award-winning filmmaker and scriptwriter Gajendra Ahires upcoming film "Dear Molly".
The Indo-Swedish collaboration has been shot in Hindi and English.
Patil, who scaled a height of 13,800 ft during a Himalayan trek this year, said in a statement: "I'm really thankful and grateful to my director Gajendra sir and our film's producers Praveen (Nischol) sir and Ratan (Jain) sir for giving me this lovely opportunity to be part of such a great film.
"I haven't had any formal shooting experience in the past and this was my first time on a film set. It was great fun shooting and a really enriching experience."
Ahire said: "It was a delight to have little Urvi as part of our film 'Dear Molly'. She is also one of the youngest mountaineers who has trekked the Himalayas. Her energy and enthusiasm was evident on the sets which made working with her all the more fun."
"Dear Molly" is a story around a father-daughter relationship. The film explores the journey of a daughter in search of her father in Sweden. The protagonist Molly had last seen her father when she was five years old.
Shot extensively in Sweden, including Stockholm, and a few other locations in downtown Europe, some of the minor portions of the film were shot in and around Maharashtra.
It features Gurbani Gill as Molly. She makes her debut along with well-known Marathi actors Alok Rajwade, Mrinmayee Godbole and Ashwini Giri and a prominent Swedish cast comprising Lia Boysen and Chris Holmgren among others.
Presented by Manmohan Shetty and Ganesh Jain, the film is set for an early 2019 release.
