Reliance-backed Unlimit launches GPS system for public transport

New Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS) Reliance Group-promoted Internet of Things (IoT) service provider Unlimit on Tuesday launched a comprehensive location tracking GPS system for the automotive vendors across the country.

The AIS-140 (Automotive Industry Standard) compliant system provides a comprehensive end-to-end solution in terms of deployment and operations of connected vehicles more efficiently, securely and by significantly helping reduce the associated operational costs, the company said in a statement.

AIS 140 is a set of standards published by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) designed to build an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) tailored for the public transportation system in the country.

"We welcome the latest Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) introduced by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) that will help build an intelligent transportation system (ITS) across India," said Jurgen Hase, CEO, Unlimit.

"The AIS-140 solution would help officials in tracking the vehicle and let passengers notify the control room in case of an emergency," Hase added.

The company said that its expertise in the IoT space will simplify the adoption, deployment and monitoring of the tracking system in a personalised and secure manner.

"IoT is crucial for enabling improved passenger experiences, safety and efficiency. We are committed to helping our customers harness the power of connectedness," Hase said.

"The AIS 140 solution offered by Unlimit will be critical in making public transport safer for everyone," he added.

Launched in 2016, Unlimit is an end-to-end IoT business solutions provider in the country.
