Jaipur, Dec 14 (IANS) The oath-taking ceremony of Rajasthan Chief Minister-designate Ashok Gehlot and Deputy Chief Minister-designate Sachin Pilot will take place on December 17, confirmed Gehlot on Friday.
The decision was taken soon after Gehlot and Pilot met Governor Kalyan Singh at the Raj Bhawan here on Friday. After a brief meeting with Singh, Gehlot confirmed that the oath-ceremony will be organised at 10 a.m on December 17.
Earlier in the evening, the two leaders landed in Jaipur together in a chartered plane. They were given a rousing welcome at the airport by party workers.
Soon after, they went straight to Clarks Amer hotel where preparations were made well in advance for the state Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting.
After attending the meeting, Pilot and Gehlot, along with other congress workers, went to the Governor's house.
Meanwhile, celebrations were seen at both Gehlot and pilot's residences.
Gehlot in a tweet said that he and his partner Pilot, along with their team of ministers, shall deliver good governance in the state, in line with the expectations of Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He also thanked people of the state and voters for extending full cooperation to the party.
Meanwhile, the Gujjar community, which was keen to see Pilot as the Chief Minister, also seemed happy with the development.
Himmat Singh, a senior Gujjar leader and a Congress worker, said that the community is happy with the decision taken by the Congress high command to appoint Pilot as the Deputy CM.
"We shall work together to take party to new heights in the Lok Sabha elections," he added.
