Panaji, Dec 5 (IANS) Over 2,000 national and international designers will converge in Goa during December 6-8 to participate in what is being dubbed as the Indian subcontinent's biggest design industry event, "NATCON 2018", organisers said on Wednesday.
The convention is held once every two years, when trade professionals, path-breaking artists, decision-makers and young talent from the creative industry converge to take stock and deliberate on the future course of the world of design.
The theme for the 2017-19 national convention being held in Goa is "Defining Design", the organisers said.
"NATCON 2018, the Maha Kumbh of designers in India, is the biggest and the most significant event related to the design industry in the Indian sub-continent. The convention and other events which run parallel to it will host the biggest names in the business, who will discuss threadbare various key aspects related to the design industry and ponder on ways and means to make the design industry as a whole more qualitative and cutting edge, as well as take the industry forward," Manish Kumat, chairman, NATCON 2018, said on Wednesday.
Among those expected to attend the event are Chief Executive Officer of the NITI Ayog, Amitabh Kant (IAS), renowned Indian designer Rajeev Sethi and award-winning German designer Werner Aisslinger, among others.
The event will feature some of the biggest decision-makers in the design industry, corporate honchos who command institutions with a turnover of Rs 200 crore to Rs. 20,000 crore, owners as well as designers, who will come on one platform to discuss, both aesthetics as well as economics of design and cutting-edge advancements related to the field, a statement issued by the organisers said.
