Srinagar, Nov 27 (IANS) The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday issued notices to the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Shopian, over injuries to a 20-month-old baby, who suffered pellet gunshots.
In response to a petition filed with the SHRC, Justice (Retired) Bilal Nazki, Chairman of the Commission issued notices to the two senior officers on the injury to baby girl Hiba Nisar.
The baby suffered pellet injuries in her right eye during security forces' action against protesters two days back in Shopian district.
The girl was reportedly in her mother's lap inside her home when she sustained the injuries that damaged her right eyeball.
Doctors have said the baby will have to undergo a series of surgeries and even then she might never fully regain vision in the affected eye.
