Santiago de Chile, Nov 17 (IANS) Costa Rica ruined Chile's evening, winning 3-2 away in a friendly match as preparation for next year's Copa America, at the El Teniente stadium here.
Kendall Waston's brace and a third goal by Ronald Matarrita on Friday made Costa Rica's dominance over the Chileans prominent even though the latter managed two late goals by Sebastian Vegas and Alexis Sanchez, reports Efe.
Chile put up a tough fight against Costa Rica from the beginning of the match while the visitors responded with dangerous counter-attacks.
In the second half of the match Chile attacked with intensity in the first few minutes, including a goal by Alexis Sanchez.
However, Costa Rica's Waston scored in the 58th minute off a Joel Campbell corner shot.
In the 81st minute Sanchez's penalty was saved by goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado.
In the 89th minute, Sanchez managed to pull in a second goal for his team after receiving a pass from Lorenzo Reyes.
