Tegucigalpa, Nov 2 (IANS) Costa Rican club Herediano captured its maiden CONCACAF League title with a 3-2 win on aggregate over Honduran side Motagua.
It won the championship despite losing 1-2 in Thursday night's second leg of the final of this 16-team, single-elimination football tournament organised by CONCACAF, the governing body for the sport in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, reports Efe.
By virtue of winning the CONCACAF League, Herediano also has qualified for the 2019 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League, the region's premier club soccer tournament.
The CONCACAF League is a tournament that began in 2017 to provide a springboard to the CONCACAF Champions League for teams from Central America and the Caribbean.
