Shimla, Oct 31 (IANS) The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the Shimla Municipal Corporation and the state to formulate a comprehensive parking in Shimla city within two months.
The court also directed that vehicles would not be allowed to be parked in an unauthorized manner on the road from the Sanjauli tunnel to Dhingu Bawri.
A division bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel passed the order while disposing of a petition filed by Prem Raj and others.
The petitioners had alleged that despite repeated requests the authorities failed to take action against haphazard parking.
During the course of hearing, the bench observed that the authorities were required to evolve a comprehensive paid parking policy for the entire city. Besides, they said there shall be a provision of hourly penalty on the violators.
