Manvendra Singh’s switchover to Congress selfish act: Rajasthan BJP leader

Jaipur, Oct 17 (IANS) BJP MLA Manvendra Singh's switchover to the opposition Congress on Wednesday ahead of the Assembly elections in Rajasthan is a "selfish act", Assembly Deputy Speaker Rao Rajendra Singh said here.

His move to join the Congress is also an insult to thousands of BJP leaders who helped him become an MLA, Rao said.

Addressing a press conference here, Rao recalled that Manvendra Singh was suspended from the BJP in 2014 when he campaigned in favour of his father and former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, who was contesting as an independent.

The BJP leader said that veteran leader Jaswant Singh was elected as a BJP lawmaker in 1980, 1986, 1998, 1999 and 2004 and that he got a chance to represent the party in the Lok Sabha in 1990, 1991, 1996 and 2009.

He said that the BJP workers and voters should be prepared to teach a lesson to such a person who flouted party discipline.
