Kolkata, Oct 12 (IANS) While the debate is on over Durga Puja's gradual shift from traditional presentation to the modern theme-based versions, the revellers should not miss the chance to relive their childhood days at a Puja marquee in Kolkata's Bhowanipur.
"They have tried to capture the free and open world of the children. I really appreciate it," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said while inaugurating a Durga Puja marquee, 'Bhowanipur 75 Palli' in south Kolkata.
Now in its 54th year, it has been an eye catcher due to its innovative concepts and celebration style.
Artist Biman Saha has portrayed nostalgic memories of childhood days through the theme "Khuje Paoa Smritir Khata, Ulte Paata Sonai Katha, (finding out from deep memory, will depict some untold story)".
"To take our puja on a global platform we have tied up with London Sharod Utsav (Durga Puja event in London)," said Subir Das, Secretary of the Bhowanipur 75 Palli club.
He said that visitors will find glimpses of their memories which will make them walk down the memory lane to their delightful childhood days.
The organisers have arranged a special counter with wheelchair and stretchers and first aid camp with ambulance facilities.
There is a VIP entrance too but senior citizens, disabled and differently-abled visitors and pregnant women can go through it without any entry passes, with the assistance of volunteers of the Puja Committee.
Sovandeb Chatterjee, Minister of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources; and Subrata Bakshi, Member of the Lok Sabha were also present during the inauguration.
