New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday transferred the sexual assault case against self-styled godman Daati Maharaj to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The case was being probed by Delhi Police.
A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V. Kameswar Rao transferred the case to the investigating agency on a petition by the victim.
The incident came to light after the woman filed a case alleging that the founder of the Delhi-based Shree Shanidham Trust had subjected her to rape and unnatural sex.
The High Court pulled up the Delhi Police for not arresting the self-styled godman, and transferred the matter to the CBI.
Delhi Police on October 1 filed the chargesheet against Daati Maharaj and others in the case. The court said the CBI can file a supplementary chargesheet and directed the agency to submit a report on investigation in three weeks.
The court has listed the case for the next hearing on October 30.
The bench was hearing two pleas, one by the complainant and the other a public interest litigation, seeking transfer of the case to the CBI.
