Eibar (Spain), Sep 30 (IANS) Sevilla completed its fantastic week with another victory, this time at the always complicated Ipurua Municipal Stadium with a 3-1 win over Eibar, which boosts it up the La Liga table.
After routing Levante and Real Madrid, Pablo Machin's squad on Saturday did the same against Eibar on a day whose only dark moment came when Sevilla fans were celebrating their team's winning ways...and a railing in the stands broke and a number of them were injured, reports Efe.
The one-sided triumph of the Sevilla squad didn't come easy, however. The first minutes were an absolute back-and-forth until Eibar's Fabian Orellana shocked the visitors with a long shot that barely missed its target.
As halftime approached, both teams appeared to settle for a tie, though both remained on the attack.
But Sevilla was unforgiving, and Andre Silva put it ahead after the second half had barely begun, making it 1-0 in the 47th minute.
Eibar's Enrich seemed to have the answer with a swift header that unfortunately flew over the crossbar, but things went downhill soon after. Teammate Cote committed an unnecessary foul, which Banega successfully converted to build Sevilla's lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute.
Sevilla fans were wildly celebrating when some railings in the Ipurua stands broke and several Sevilla fans fell and had to receive medical attention or were hospitalized.
Changes were made in the two squads, and Eibar seemed very negatively affected by Sevilla's second goal, while things couldn't have looked better for the visiting team.
In the nine minutes of overtime Sevilla nailed its victory even more with another Banega goal to make it 3-0 in the 94th minute. Eibar meanwhile seemed to just want the game to end.
But finally, in the 99th minute, Jordan got Eibar on the scoreboard for the final tally of 3-1.
