New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) India on Friday named Vikram Misri, a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and presently Ambassador to Myanmar, as its next Ambassador to China.
An External Affairs Ministry statement said Misri was expected to take up the new assignment shortly. He will succeed Gautam Bambawale in Beijing.
A career diplomat, Misri has served in various capacities in the External Affairs Ministry in Delhi, in the Prime Minister's Office and in various Indian missions in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
