Guwahati, Sep 21 (IANS) Six people were electrocuted in Assam's Nagaon district on Friday, police said.
The incident took place at a fishery in Khatowal area.
"The victims were killed immediately as a high voltage electric wire was in the fishery which might have fallen in it the previous day. The electricity board officials however, did not disconnect the electricity, which led to the incident," a police officer said.
Following the incident, an angry mob vandalised the residence of an employee of the electricity board holding him responsible.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into the incident and asked Power Minister Tapan Kumar Gogoi to visit the place.
