New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) Ministry of Rural Development will felicitate several stakeholders on Tuesday with "National Awards" for their "outstanding work."
The ministry said on Monday it has organised the awards ceremony to recognize "the outstanding work carried out by the states, districts, blocks, organisations and individuals in implementation of various programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development in 2017-18 and to instil healthy competition among them for better implementation and performance in future".
During the year 2017-18, 44.54 lakh rural houses were constructed in the country, out of which the highest number was in Uttar Pradesh, built under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana -- Gramin.
Madhya Pradesh made the maximum length of roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, while West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh did well in livelihood generation under the Mahatma Gandhi National National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
A total of 228 awards would be given under different categories to the winners.
