Lucknow, Aug 28 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government rejigged the police department in a big way on Tuesday and transferred 87 Indian Police Service (IPS) and Provincial Police Service (PPS) officials.
A government spokesman informed that among the transferred officials, 30 are from the IPS and 21 from the PPS.
In the reshuffle, 21 district police chiefs have been changed.
The Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) who have been transferred include those of Faizabad, Meerut, Sonebhadra, Fatehgarh, Auraiyya and Hathras.
Four officials who had been posted with the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police have also been given charge of districts.
