UP's tourism potential remains untapped: CM

Lucknow, Aug 27 (IANS) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that Uttar Pradesh's tourism potential remained untapped and reiterated his government's commitment to finish this task.

Inaugurating the fourth edition of the 'UP Travelmart', the Chief Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government was working to strengthen infrastructure at tourist hotspots in Uttar Pradesh and interlink them for the benefit of tourists.

 

As many as 50 tour operators from 23 countries and 18 tour operators from India are taking part in the event.

Adityanath said that the state offered nature, historical, religious and cultural tourism and there was need to boost its capabilities to increase tourist footfall.

The Chief Minister said that Bundelkhand region was was not completely unexplored till date, though it has immense potential to draw both domestic and international tourists.

The government, he added, was trying to increase tourist attraction of places like Prayag (Allahabad), Ayodhya, Vindhyachal, Naimisharan, Chitrakoot, Vrindavan, and Mathura.

Adityanath said that his government had invited representatives and dignitaries from 192 countries to attend 'Kumbh-2019' in Allahabad. More than 12 crore devotees are expected to participate in the religious and cultural event.

The state will hold Uttar Pradesh NRI Day in Varanasi on January 20-23 next year.
