Taiwan wins gold in men’s recurve archery team event

Jakarta, Aug 27 (IANS) Taiwan won the gold medal in the men's recurve archery team event at the 2018 Asian Games after defeating South Korea with a score of 5-3 on Monday.

The Taiwanese team, comprising Weimin Luo, Chihchun Tang and Chunheng Wei won in the first set 56-55 to go 2-0 up, reports Xinhua news agency.

They met resistance from the South Koreans in the second and third sets. In the second set, both teams collected 53 points and the score became 3-1. In the third set, South Korea hit top form to win 58-51 and tie the score at 3-3.

In the fourth set, Taiwan regained the momentum and closed the deciding set 56-55 for 5-3 overall.

"We are very pleased with this result and we gave our best," Chunheng said.

China won the bronze medal after beating Mongolia 6-0.
